Photography Blog | The Life and Times of Julie Harris Photo Blog | Photography Blogs. Welcome! This is where I show my work and write about what stirs me. Mary Ellen Mark says, "Reality is always extraordinary". I live by this. I'm a documentary photographer with a thirst for love, life and truth... a true bohemian at heart. In an industry saturated with trendy processing techniques and emphasis on style instead of substance, I strive to make honest images that are full of emotion and reality. Bobbi and Brian are engaged! And I had the great pleasure of capturing this time in their lives and will have the even greater pleasure of photographing their wedding this coming summer! These kiddos are two of the sweetest people I have ever worked with. While they look like they could be runway models when I ask them to pull out the “edge”, they can only hold that poker face for a moment before they burst into laughter. And while I love “edgy” photos and can think of no better faces for them, it’s the images of laughter here that I love—these are more “them”! Bobbi and Brian bubble over with joy and laughter when they are around each other—and they know how to play. And this to me, is one of the most beautiful aspects of love and friendship.
There are no words to describe how honored I felt to be present at the birth of Taylor Ryan Siller. She was born to Gino and Amber Siller on May 8th at roughly 5pm.
Gino, a good friend of mine and amazing photographer, asked me a few months back if I would photograph his wife, Amber’s labor and delivery. I was of course honored then, but had no idea that witnessing such an intimate and miraculous moment, would leave me spellbound and unable to blog it for days– and still, there are no words. I hope that pictures can speak 1000 words, because I don’t want to trivialize or spoil the beauty of this miracle with my poor writing. All I can say, is that I am so glad and privledged to have such amazing people, like Amber and Gino in my life, and I know that Taylor will always have a special place in my heart, as I watched her– a beautiful, healthy, 7.86 lb baby girl enter this world…..
What maybe struck me more than anything about this day, is just how intimate the experience of bringing a life into this world is. I was so moved by Gino’s tenderness and compassion for Amber, and by Amber’s appreciation of him…
Amber kicked butt—seriously, she is my biggest hero these days.
I lost it when I saw Amber’s pure amazement, and Gino’s tears at the first glimpse of their daughter, Taylor.
From the bottom of my heart—Thank you, Gino and Amber, and congratulations!
One of the things that I love most about weddings is the raw emotion that goes along with the day—be it laughter, tears of joy, anxiety, etc, etc. I can’t think of a sweeter occasion for priceless moments of true bliss! Karen and Nate are no exception here—Their wedding day was simply flooded with emotion—and I couldn’t have had a happier shutter! Clearly these two are in love, and are ecstatic with the fact that they will be spending the rest of their lives together. It was a beautiful, perfect wedding! congratulations, Karen and Nate!
Karen and Nate are hardly traditionalists. They hung out all morning together, until Karen went into the bathroom to put her dress on. This certainly didn’t spoil the moment of the two of them seeing each other for “the fist time”, in their wedding garb. It was as if they hadn’t seen each other for days!
Ahhhhhh….. my favorite shot of the whole day—the groom’s face when he see’s his bride walking down that aisle!
Another one of my favorite parts of a wedding day is the toasts. I always get to learn new things about my couples, and of course it’s always another good moment for laughter and tears!
