Jackie and Andrew tied the knot on Friday at the Inverness Hotel—and the weather held out! (That was the major concern of the day—would the weather hold out and allow for an outdoor ceremony, or would Jackie and Andrew have to move it indoors). To top it off, the sun literally peered through the clouds when Jackie said “I do”. It was surreal and beautiful.

Jackie is a photographer—and a true one at heart too! She was taking photos on her own wedding day!

Really.  Is this not the cutest couple?  They are all dimples and giggles.  I think sometimes my clients think that I am crazy when I shoot….  I lie on the ground, trip all over the place, and ask them to do things that seem so unbelievably cheesy that they are like deer caught in headlights— “You want us to do what”?  But it’s generally the reaction that I want, in whatever crazy thing I’m doing, or asking them to do.  Christina and MinWoo were so sweet.  They were clearly shy—a bit embarrassed to kiss in public, and not used to this whole “engagement shoot thing”.  But it was their sweet reactions and giggles to the whole experience that made these images so appealing.  I wish I could shoot Christina and MinWoo’s wedding because I think they are a dream couple, but unfortunately for me, it will be held in Korea…

I had Christina and MinWoo canoodling and kissing so much, that MinWoo’s glasses got smudged.  I grabbed this candid shot of him right after he wiped them off on Christina’s shirt.

Who knows what ridiculous thing I asked them to do to get this cute giggle out of the two of them, but it apparently worked!

WOW, the color is AMAAAAZING on these, Julie. This couple is ridiculously photogenic. I heart MinWoo's glasses!

I love them all - but especially the hug against the red wall. Love it!

I guess it's not really a challenge to shoot people who are entirely comfortable in front of the camera, posing, etc. It takes a true pro to draw out the off-camera personalities so they can be captured in the way only you seem to be able to capture personalities! They have to just love these. It's them, just captured and heightened. Great stuff!

Megan and Jeff are engaged and I had the pleasure of shooting their engagement photos on Sunday! I was really excited when I arrived, to see that Megan had brought her son Tanner for a couple shots—what a ham (at least when he had the camera to himself)! He wasn’t too thrilled about sitting still and smiling with Megan and Jeff, but we managed to sneak him into one or two shots. Megan and Jeff, however are wonderful together in front of the camera! Megan warned me that they both despise getting their picture taken, and I simply told them “no problem—just love on each other and I’ll stand back and document”. They were great! Sometimes I think that people who are a little intimidated of the camera, often shine the most because there is a real vulnerability there. Megan and Jeff were very “honest” subjects, and I think that the sweetness shows through in these images…

One of the things I noticed about Megan when I first met her, was how cool her shoes were—I still remember them, they were yellow and white 1940′s looking heels.  Low and behold, she showed up in another pair of super cute shoes on Sunday….  I love this girl’s style!

Isn’t Tanner adorable! He’s like a little rock star!

So here is a perfect example of “honest” subjects. This shot below wasn’t and “honest” depiction of Megan and Jeff. However, I thought it would be really cool to take Megan and Jeff’s photo in front of these rad looking skaters…. what was I thinking??!! I guess sometimes I try a little too hard to think outside the box, and while this might have been a cool concept, it just didn’t work and ended up being a really funny, awkward moment. The shot actually grew on me simply because it was so awkward! Look at Megan’s hand…. She’s like ” what the heck is Julie doing and what the heck are we supposed to do?” And the skaters, although totally good sports were really confused by my “brilliant idea for an edgy Denver photograph”. Oh well… sometimes you’ve got to try!
