About Julie

I’m a gregarious introvert. My favorite place is Paris. My favorite color is yellow.

My guilty pleasures are Totino’s frozen pizzas, Phil Collins and naps (although, I don’t think anyone should feel guilty about napping).

More than anything…

I delight in the small joys that a simple life can bring.

I love it when someone cancels plans, when the sun doesn’t come out, and when the bookstore is empty.  I love rain and thunderstorms and messy beds.

I love it when I wake up before anyone else does and can sit in the velvety dark, before the sun rises.

I love digging in the dirt in the spring before I’m overwhelmed with the upkeep of summer. I love going to a friend’s house and using her toiletries.

I love humans–the quirky, broken, and perfectly imperfect little beasts that we are.

I love to deep dive into our stories.   I believe that we all just want someone to see the beauty we can’t see in ourselves, and that we are all inherently good and innocent.

I am incredibly blessed to be married to an artist/screenwriter, and have two extraordinary daughters who keep me tethered and grounded.

The Way I See It

“There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment.”  Robert Frank

A photograph can be more than just a memory or a pretty holiday card. A photograph can live on as a space brought to light, quite literally, that tells your daughter that she is fun. She is brave. She is loved.  It can be a constant reminder that even when your hair is a mess, or your clothes are out of style, that you are deeply cherished.   If you allow it, a photograph can bring you back to your authentic self.  It can be your story that simply can’t be put into words.

Leave your bed unmade.  Skip the trip to the mall . Kick your shoes off and come as you are.  Let’s capture the humanity of the moment.
