It’s that time of year again and I’m back to work, full throttle with weddings. Chetana and Shoban’s wedding was officially my first wedding of the season and I couldn’t think of a better way to kick it off. This wedding was “street photography” meets Hindu tradition. Chetana and Shoban were amazing to work with. A fun, spunky couple with impeccable taste, they opted for few formals and mostly documentary style photography with some street portraits thrown in. We were a perfect match. And I don’t even have to mention the color and opulence surrounding this event. It was yummy all around. If the rest of my weddings and couples are this fantastic, it’s going to be a great season…
If you follow my blog, you know that I am about 20 weddings behind… And now that the next wedding season is rapidly approaching, I’m determined to get a few more out here before I start blogging 2012 weddings. I think I chose Jemma and Gabriel’s wedding to blog because these two have been on my mind. It was about a year ago that I went to LA to photograph their engagement photos and I’ve been fondly remembering our time spent together at Venice Beach. It was only 3 months later that I photographed this wedding at the Starhouse in Boulder, and my memories, albeit some morning sickness, are just as fond. It was a splendid wedding for a splendid couple–Intimate, super spiritual, and super hippie. Jemma looked like a mountain fairy and Gabriel looked (and always looks) like Mark Ruffalo. Totally random to the wedding, I know.
I adored working with Jemma and Gabriel and respect their love for one another so much. I’d say congratulations, but that would be too belated. I must send them an anniversary card, instead and maybe go back to the Starboard with them and share a bottle of wine sometime this summer…
I generally don’t take weddings past the 15th of October. I have to cap my “season” somewhere and mid-October leaves me some time to enjoy a little fall in Paris. But Danielle and Trevor walked into my studio and sat down and I fell in love with them. They are super laid back, bourbon drinking, pool playing, local natives—and the plans for their gorgeous fall wedding got me to cross my own boundaries and shoot a wedding on the 22nd of October. And I’m so glad I did. The weather was perfect, their venues, The Rysby Chapel and Lone Hawk Farm are two of my favorite places to shoot, and when I heard about Danielle’s dress… well, I’ll just let it speak for itself. Glad this was the wedding that wrapped up my extended season.
