![]() ![]() I’ve been watching a lot of Madmen lately. It’s a television show on AMC that I’m pretty much addicted to when it comes to visual inspiration. It’s sexy Manhattan in the 60s—the set is mid-century modern and beautiful and well, the actors/actresses… even more delectable. So maybe that is why I’m so excited about Elizabeth and Drew’s wedding— It felt as though I walked into Manhattan circa 1963. Elizabeth’s style—elegant, classic and stunning was like Grace Kelly. And the vintage limo, the Curtis hotel, and the opera house, were just extra touches that made this a dream wedding. Thank you, Elizabeth and Collin for giving me the pleasure of being a part of this day. You guys are darlings—and your style impeccable. On a completely different note, I’m going to put myself out there and say that photographically speaking, I feel like this wedding was a breakthrough for me. Something clicked and I was seeing things from a fresh perspective. I really honed in on this while editing the images for this blog post. I feel like I’ve been posting a lot of the “same” type shots over and over again. And while those images are my forte, I have been wanting to step out and post some images on my blog that speak to me on a more artistic level…. and I’m not even quite sure what that means. I just know that these images scream what I want to be doing more of, and what is getting my heart pumping these days, creatively speaking…

I love your high/low angles from the performing arts complex and use of lines. Also love the reflections. Not your usual can of worms, but I love it. -Hi Julie, Paul -Really cool, wedding. Definitely feeling the MadMen element to it. Just want to see more whiskey and smoking! Love the reflection shots and the shot of the bride and bridesmaids toasting at the bar tables. Really looks “vintage”. U rock, baby! -I really like the one looking down from the stairs as they are walking away. Great angle. -I have to say that I really really really really really REALLY love your work. And I love MadMen. Lots of things to love here on your site. Very cool reflection shots, and I ADORE the shot of the mother looking at the bride. -Ah, Julie Harris. You simply inspire me. -Oh my gosh–I totally see the breakthrough. This is some of your best work. Reflection of the bride in the car window=fabulous. And I’m addicted to Mad Men as well. I seriously want some of Betty and Joan’s dresses. -![]() There was lots of “leaping” going on at this wedding—as well, there should be–it was a joyous occasion! Briar and Elliot are one of those couples who just ooze life. They are carefree, fun, well traveled, and so, so happy. There was nothing traditional about this wedding except for a couple of Jewish traditions. Briar and Elliot’s ceremony was out in the middle of a field, officited by Briar’s sister and Elliot’s good friend. It was like a movie script–very narrative and full of love and kind words, rather than a bunch of cliche quotes and vows. At the end of the ceremony, Briar and Elliot ran down the field instead of walking back down the aisle. It was “so them“… The whole day was refreshing and wonderfully personal. Another highlight of my career, for sure. Congratulations, Briar and Elliot!

Jasmine and Danny at the Red Lion Inn
August 29, 2010
•Weddings
Jasmine and Danny flew in from Florida to have their wedding at one of my favorite venues, The Red lion Inn in Boulder. It couldn’t have been a better choice with the rain, the bag pipes and the wonderful guests who seemed to really appreciate the Colorado weather and the romantic ambiance it created. Jasmine and Danny were great to work with—very fun and laid back. The reception rocked with lots of dancing and laughter and of course lots and lots of love…. Congratulations, Jasmine and Danny. I’m really bummed out that you live so far away—I could see us partying it up, for sure!
Jasmine got ready at the West End Salon in Boulder. The bittersweet story around this, is that her good friend and owner of the salon, Deandra passed away just two weeks earlier from Ovarian cancer. It was a beautiful tribute for Jasmine to spend the morning at the salon with her close friends and family and of course, Deandra was there in spirit. The morning was incredibly moving.
I love this shot of Jasmine with her mom and sisters.
This is my favorite shot from the day—Soooo sexy!
This shot is a close second favorite… Jasmine’s Dad is fantastic and totally reminds me of Viggo Mortensen!
Some Irish punk dancing… love it!

I am looking at the photos with tears of absolute JOY! I know that people always cry at weddings so I guess that is acceptable. Jasmine & Danny, I wish you a forever filled with the same happiness that you shared on your wedding day.
