I had the pleasure of working with Ilene and Ali yesterday at the Sanctuary in Castle Pines. This was not an elopement…. Ilene called me and asked if I would re-shoot her wedding pictures. They had hired a friend to shoot their wedding back in August and didn’t have any formals that they were happy with. And while this isn’t usually my thing ( I generally like to be documenting, the “real deal” with all the emotions and hoopla) , there was something about Ilene’s voice in her inquiry that made me really excited to do this non-bridal for them. I’m so happy that I took this job! I had so much fun with these two, and despite the fact that these images weren’t done on their “wedding day”, the shoot certainly didn’t lack emotion… Ilene and Ali are very much in love and it was a blast documenting them in a more relaxed way. They seemed to have a lot of fun together while doing the shoot and I hope that I was able to capture the love and playfulness that exists in their relationship. Congratulations, Ilene and Ali (much belated)!

Ummm…. hello! Ilene is gorgeous! I really think she should model—in fact, if she weren’t moving to Dubai, I’d be calling her for some of my personal “edge” shoots!

This last shot was really fun! We had pretty much done all those “formals” that they needed, so I told them to just “pose” for me—do what they wanted! This is what Ali came up with, and I loved it! So natural and adorable!

It’s a pity that I didn’t get to spend more time with Krista and Greg. We met for the first time on Saturday, but I know that I would have loved to have formed a relationship with them over this last year of wedding planning, had they been here in Colorado. Krista is a cute bubbly girl who just beams from ear to ear and seems to burst into giggle at just the right moment, and Greg is a dapper, sensitive guy who clearly adores his new bride. This was one of those weddings where I didn’t have to do much…. I just let them go in a field at Chautauqua and just snapped away. The wedding was a perfect mix of both worlds with the ceremony held at The cathedral of immaculate conception on Colfax and the reception at the Rembrandt Yard in Boulder. We also sprinkled in some time at Chautauqua park for some fun “Colorado” images.

Jessica, the sweet little flower girl screamed her way down the aisle. It was really cute actually—she is right at that age where she doesn’t want to leave mommy’s side, and her mommy happened to walk down right before her. Bless her little heart!

I adored Kara, Krista’s maid of honor. She was a ball of emotions all day—and such a tenderheart!

I love this image…. there is something so sober about it.

I’m generally not much of a “detail” photographer, but I couldn’t get enough of the yummy blues and oranges at Krista and Greg’s reception. Everything was so springy and fresh—from the fruit and veggi arrangements to the gorgeous (and tasty) blueberry martinis… Did I mention that my favorite flowers happen to be orange tulips?

I always find it sort of funny when the entire bridal party is introduced before the bride and groom into the reception. But wow! This party really put on a show as they entered . I was loving it!

Krista and Greg didn’t need to put on a show—they were the show. Aren’t they stunning?!

This may have been one of the best getaways that I’ve yet to witness! Krista’s sister, Karen pulled up in a pedicab and took the couple away—in a uniform and all! It was a perfect and fun way to end the day.

Julie! Wow! Is this the first wedding you've shot with the D3? Exciiiiiting! I love it. What a great story to tell. I too heart the orange tulips and the blue details. She really put a *lot* of thought into this wedding.

Gorgeous, as always. OK, spill. Please indulge us beginners by sharing if you used any lighting in the church, etc.! I don't get the feeling you use any off-camera (or on) flash, but how are those shots so beautifully lit? The bridesmaids have the perfect rimlight...was there sunlight in the church? You just continue to amaze.

The pictures tell a story, a "Once upon a time" story. And it is by no mistake, that the perfect wedding was planned by the perfect couple. Congratulations to the love birds and kudos to the photographer for letting us re-live this beautiful moment in time. Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale. Dad

Krista and Greg... A storybook romance, a wedding that leaves you breathless, and two hearts that will always beat as one! It was an honor for me, to share in this special moment, together with both of your families!! Love, Linda

Krista & Greg, It was such a pleasure for us to have the opportunity to attend such a beautiful wedding and be with a great group of people. May you always be as happy as you were that day! I came home and told erveyone that NY weddings should be done just like yours. Uncle Phil and I had a wonderful time, enjoyed meeting all of Krista's family and of course, being with all of you once again, especially my new found friend Miss Jessica who thinks all red hair ladies are Kathy. Love, Health and Happiness to you always. Love, Aunt Kathy

  • Michele Walsh- Greg's Sister

I am so glad Greg has found Krista to love and care for him as he does for her. All you have to do is spend 5 mins with them to see it. Just look at them they are picture perfect! Jessica realized not only does she have an amazing Uncle Greg, she has gained a wonderful Aunt Krista. By the way, Jessica would like to dance with both of you some more. Love and Happiness, Your Sister Michele

Krista: Jocelyn shared these pictures of your special day with me. You were an absolutely beautiful bride and you look so happy in all of these pictures. I am so happy to see you so happy!! I recognize some of those facial expressions in your pictures and it brings back such wonderful memories for me of our college days. I wish you a lifetime of happiness with Greg--you certainly deserve it!! Love, Jen

I knew I liked Katie the minute she walked through my door last fall in her cute little shoes…. she was so bright eyed and excited about her engagement to Geoff….

Today, I got to meet Geoff and I couldn’t be more thrilled about working with these two! They have so much fun with each other and couldn’t be a better fit. (Although Geoff is a good foot taller than Katie)!

We started out our shoot bowling at lucky strike and ended up in a parking garage…. It was so much fun!

We basically ran out of light and ended up in a parking garage because that was the only place I could find enough ambient light to really shoot anything of interest. We seriously spent like an hour in there! It was great! Have I mentioned how much I love my D3??? I took all these these shots at 12500 ISO without a flash!

Good Morning Julie... It's 5:00 in the morning (sounds like a great opening line for a hit song) and nothing else could get me out of bed this early. Katie called last night after finishing the shoot to let us know what a great time they'd had with you; she did say "they" which is quite a compliment since Geoff had to miss the 76ers victory over Detroit! You captured their playfulness and their moods so very well. The photos are beautiful. And you're absolutely right, these two are competitive...see you in June. We'll bring the popcorn and Junior Mints. Tammy

What a totally unique shoot! Amazing job. I am so jazzed you got the D3! They did a great job of coordinating their wardrobe. I love Katie's pinks. Is the photobooth still working in Lucky Strike? We went there to take some cool shots, and the booth was dead as a doornail. No es justo!

Wow! These photos perfectly capture the love that exudes between these two. What a perfect setting for such a fun couple. Katie looks beautiful as always in every shot but what a surprise that Geoff is so photogenic. Can't wait for the wedding to arrive, there is no doubt that the photos will take our breath away!
