In Between

Julie's In Between photographs are those images that don't quite fit anywhere else on her web site or in her portfolio. They are images that were sometimes captured in a fleeting moment of artistic intuition, when Julie had no time to think but only to sense the emergence of a "moment" and capture it with her camera. Images like a young girl and her dog running past propoganda posters in Luxembourg. Or a young schoolgirl skipping gleefully at recess across a Galway playground.

Many of her photographic subjects are ordinary folks doing ordinary things though somehow the images seem anything but ordinary. Images like the two children enjoying ice cream in a park in Paris (one of Julie's personal favorites) or a commuter bound for somewhere on the Paris metro. Other images touch on deeper pathos or suggest more metaphorical symbolism: the man in a shirt and tie resting peacefully at the bottom of an aqua-green pool, the weathered face of a homeless man, or the image of two nuns out for a morning stroll in Venice. And some images flirt with something else altogether (See Scary Jesse or Stanley Kubrick or Irish Attitude).

Julie's In Between images are unique unto themselves, their anti-thematic virtues serving as the one commonality that ties them all together...thematically.
