Denver Engagement Photos

Getting your Denver engagement photos taken should be a fun and intimate experience. Maybe even a little adventurous too. After all, this is YOUR PERSON. The one with whom you’re choosing to spend the rest of your days with. It’s a big deal. You’re embarking on a grand adventure. And that’s why having the right engagement photographer can ensure that the experience is memorable for all the right reasons and that your photos come out the way you want them to.

Ride or Die | Denver Couples Photographer

But I feel like this is a good time to say that you don’t have to be “engaged” to make some beautiful images with your spouse or partner, aka your ride or die. A couple of years after we were married, my husband and I did this very thing when we were visiting Seattle and not only loved the experience but relish the finished product. We still look at those images nearly two decades later. Suffice to say, having a dedicated photo shoot to commemorate your relationship and love make the sort of keepsakes that you’ll still be looking at when you’re much older and grayer.

My approach to engagement and couples shoots

My style is relaxed and fun while always keeping an eye out for the serendipitous. My documentary-style approach to engagement photography focuses on capturing the authentic moments and emotions between each couple with minimal coaching, posing, or staging. If you’re feeling nervous or camera shy, we can start at a bar and I’ll document cocktail hour. After you’ve loosened up a bit, the focus should be on your partner and not the camera. Capturing a couple’s unique chemistry is something I strive to do at every engagement or couples photo session. The more you focus on your partner and the love between you, the better the photos will turn out.

Favorite Engagement Photo Locations in Denver and Boulder

LoHi (Lower Highlands in Denver) — Maybe my favorite area for Denver engagement photos. There’s a lot of historical buildings mixed in with new builds plus great restaurants and bars. If you’re looking for something eclectic, hip yet historical, LoHi is the place.
RiNo District — RiNo is happening. So many fun spots to visit for your relaxed, fun engagement session.
LoDo (Lower Downtown) – Lots of buildings and city terrain for urban engagement photo shoots.
Cheesman Park (Denver) — Great park. Beautiful in spring, summer or fall.
Wash Park & Old South Gaylord Street – Great neighborhood. Very walkable. Lots of places to snap some shots.
Pearl Street (Boulder) — I LOVE this area. So many fun things to do and options (like walking over to Boulder Creek to get some fun nature shots) before hitting the roof of The Rio for a marg.
Coot Lake (Boulder County) — Another favorite Boulder County outdoor location for shoots of all kinds. Starting there, then heading over to Avery for a beer on a sunny day is a lot of fun.
Chautauqua Park / Flatirons in Boulder — A perennial favorite that offers stunning landscapes of the Flatirons as well as the city of Boulder. Chautauqua is stunning in the summer and fall.
Boulder Reservoir – A beautiful body of water located northeast of Boulder. There’s a great mix of terrain with the gorgeous foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the backdrop. Gorgeous at sunset in the spring, summer, or fall.
Lyons — A quaint small town (where my husband grew up) north of Boulder on the way to Estes Park. Lots of scenic open space options in the area with outdoor seating at Oskar Blues or Spirit Hound during the warm months.
