If it comes to me starting my blog all over, with a fresh start and fresh content, then I can’t think of  better faces to launch with.  Meet the Goodberry’s.  Cynthia is a colleague in the wedding industry here in Denver and is the best makeup artist EVER.  Check her out at www.denvermakeupguru.com.  Not only would I pay her everyday to do my makeup if I could, she has become one of my very best friends, and I am absolutely in love with her family!   She and her amazingly chill husband, Jim are bringing up three beautiful children and doing a damn fine job–I only hope Jess and I can come close to their incredible parenting skills and love for one another.

Nadine is a precocious 7 year old with perfect trendles and a smile to die for.  We went camping together and she brought a birdwatching book.  Not a kids birdwatching book, mind you–but a real encyclopedia of birds and their habitats.  She is a determined sweetie pie who will go far.

Natalie is my little firecracker friend.  Just three, she talks about viruses and collects baby reptiles.  When she holds them in her hands, her voice changes into a high pitched baby voice saying  “Awww—look at this cute little baby garter snake”, as if she even needs to use a baby voice!  She’s going to be trouble!  But in the best way possible.

Baby Jimmy is hilarious!  He doesn’t talk much, but he is a huge flirt and his natural athletic ability astounds me.  He climbs up on the slide and os down it in 2 seconds flat.  And he struts.  Cynthia thinks he’s going to be a little Matthew McConaughey when he grows up—and I agree.   He’s going to knock em’ down–maybe literally.

I love this family so much.  And I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my morning than to sift through these photos and post about 5 of my favorite people.

What a gorgeous family! The kids are so beautiful! The kids remind me of my own. I have 2 girls and a baby boy. My oldest Amelie is 5 and constantly carries around her audubon field guide of insects and spiders. My middle child Eloise is going to be so much trouble. She is 3 going on 15 and I struggle with her daily. She is so entertaining, though. My son Blake is, well, a mama's boy. EEK! Why am I sharing this? I don't know. I just love your work and I love the way you write about your clients' and for some reason I felt compelled to talk about my kids! HAHA! SORRY! :)

Hacked
August 19 | 2011

My blog has been compromised.  Hacked.  Deleted.  DELETED!!!  Who does this? It’s cyberspace vandalism. I’m among 30 plus other flosites blogs who have been hacked.  If you have a flosites blog, or if you password protect your blog.  PICK A STRONG PASSWORD.  I have been spending the last 48 hours frantically trying to restore and collect any data that I can in order to somehow piece together 5 years of my heart and soul.  My portfolio and journal are gone.  Please be patient with me for future posts and keep your fingers crossed.  I may be starting from square one…

  • David

Google Reader still pulls up your blog entries starting on July 21. So maybe not all is actually lost. I hope that your host fixes their holes and you can be back on your merely way. I really enjoy your blog and hope that you can get things restored.

I had a feeling that something was wrong. I have the rss feed on my phone and saw the new post that said hello world. I tried to send you a message from my new iphone but I still have not mastered that thing and I think I hit every button trying to comment. Michelle and I are truly sorry that this happened to you! I hope you can salvage your work. I don't know why people do such things!

I'm so sorry to hear about your blog site being hacked. I'm a photographer and also a web developer of 15 years. If you want to email me off-post I can give you some info about preventing this in the future, as well as how to back up the database containing your pages and posts so that you can easily restore all your data in a few seconds should it ever happen again.

There's a site called the way back machine that does web archiving. Did a search for your blog and they have entries dating back until 2008. http://wayback.archive.org/web/*/http://www.julieharrisphotography.com/blog/ I just came across your blog a couple of weeks ago, and managed to look through all of your posts. Love your photography.

Cannot believe your host doesn't have a snapshot of your database? And a snapshot of your directories and files. Something.

    (08.24.2011)
  • Emily

Another local photographer who loves your work chiming in to say I'm so sorry your website was hacked- it's a terrible shame, and I hope you're able to recover it all soon and without too much headache.

"I'm not responsible for my photographs. Photography is not documentary, but intuition, a poetic experience. It's drowning yourself, dissolving yourself, and then sniff, sniff, sniff – being sensitive to coincidence. You can't go looking for it; you can't want it, or you want get it. First you must lose your self. Then it happens. - Henri Cartier-Bresson - September/October 1997, American Photo , Page: 96 This reminded me of your work. I hope your blog is up and going soon! I love going back over the images in Mississippi for inspiration. xo

This wedding could not have been better suited for me, both as a photographer and as a person. Jasmine and Andy had the most lovely, intimate, hippie wedding in Glenwood Springs that was seriously exactly what I would want if I were redoing my wedding. The wedding was held at the gorgeous 4 mile creek Bed and Breakfast in Glenwood Springs. They had their ceremony nestled up to an aspen field, and their reception was free flowing party with people dancing all over the place—in the grass, the trees, and a few on the dance floor. There were shoes kicked off, hoola hoops, face painting, river wadding, tail gating…. It was honestly what a wedding should be–a stress free, fun celebration amongst the best of friends and family.
The wedding was especially significant for me personally, because of my current pregnant state. I was in a bit of a funk the week before this wedding—just wondering if I could ever be a good mama and just overall fretful about the upcoming changes that will be happening in my life (let alone the crazy changes that are happening in my body everyday, which I’m not always comfortable with). Jasmine is a midwife and was serendipitously 6 months pregnant at her wedding. She glowed and radiated “life”. I got to spend the entire morning with her while she took a bath and prepped for her wedding , just basking in her wisdom and beautiful energy. She is such an amazing woman who draws amazing people into her life–like Andy, of course. And they both have such amazing friends who were also so abundant with life. It was incredible actually. I left the wedding that evening glowing myself, feeling blessed, excited, refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of the wedding season. Thank you, Jasmine and Andy for all of this…. for the conspicuous love and passion that is so natural between you, for your vivacious spirits and for sharing this amazing weekend with me. It will go down in the books as one of the best…. xoxo
