Sarah and Gabor were married in July at the Grant Humphrey’s mansion in Denver.  It was a hot one, and the light was pretty impossible during the ceremony, but the party was a riot and the cocktail hour lent itself to some great moments.  I don’t even need to mention the fact and Sarah and Gabor look like a couple that stepped out of a magazine…  and to top it all off, they are my neighbors so I especially connected to them.  Oh, and we share the dark and stormy as a favorite cocktail.  Gosh, I miss those…

 

]]> http://www.julieharrisphotography.com/blog/2012/01/08/sarah-and-gabor-at-grant-humphreys-mansion/feed/ 3 Dreaming of Ramona http://www.julieharrisphotography.com/blog/2012/01/03/dreaming-of-ramona/ http://www.julieharrisphotography.com/blog/2012/01/03/dreaming-of-ramona/#comments Tue, 03 Jan 2012 19:51:04 +0000 admin http://www.julieharrisphotography.com/blog/?p=10694 Today is my birthday and I’m taking it easy.  I should probably go for a swim or a long walk to encourage my little monkey to come today–because truly, that’s what I’d really like for my birthday, but alas–I don’t think she’s quite ready.  Some things can only be hoped for and I’m sure Ramona will appreciate having her own birthday.  We’ll still celebrate our January birthdays together.  I’ll pull her out of School for a week and we’ll go to Paris… or we’ll go shopping together and bake each other cakes.  I simply can’t wait.  I can’t believe how transformative these last 9 months have been.  I never knew I even wanted children and now I’m completely in love with a little person in my belly that I haven’t even met yet.  My soul is at peace and I feel different somehow.  I’m a better person.  More alive–like my life has a different purpose other than partying and living for myself.  I can’t wait to meet her.  So today, on my birthday, I’ll keep dreaming of this little bean and spend some time putting the finishing touches on her room…  which happens to be the best room in our home.  Only the best, I guess for Ramona….  Cheers, little lady–to our January birthdays.  I am eagerly awaiting your arrival.

I said I wasn’t taking any more shoots until my little nugget arrives, but I met Jessica and Tim in my natural childbirth class and after getting to know them a little bit, I was really excited to  get my camera on this family of 4–errr 5.   Jessica and Tim are due a week after Jesse and I, and are having a little boy.  The shoot was so easy because conversation flowed as Jessica and I shared our fears, excitements, and wonders over what the next few weeks will bring.  It was nice. We did the shoot at their home Sunday morning over coffee (they own and operate CODA coffee and I was relieved to hear that Jessica also has been drinking coffee her entire pregnancy).  I learned early on in class that Jessica and Tim’s pups, Whiskey and Boot are very important to them, so of course we incorporated them in the session as well.  It was a perfect shoot of a day in the life of Jessica, Tim and their little baby boy in the oven.

And of course, it will be a riot and will include seeing some live music of some sort.  So…  please leave your feedback on what you would like to learn in a workshop like this, and if you are one of the first 10 to  post here or email me, I’ll mail you my new Holiday Mix (It is seriously, seriously good).   Good luck and have fun!!

]]> http://www.julieharrisphotography.com/blog/2011/12/05/my-new-holiday-mix-with-a-string-attached/feed/ 36 Katie and Peter are engaged http://www.julieharrisphotography.com/blog/2011/12/03/katie-and-peter-are-engaged/ http://www.julieharrisphotography.com/blog/2011/12/03/katie-and-peter-are-engaged/#comments Sat, 03 Dec 2011 20:51:26 +0000 admin http://www.julieharrisphotography.com/blog/?p=10560 Katie and Peter are a couple that I am so looking forward to working more with…  They are getting married next June and my expectations of it being a splendid event are high, simply because I know there will be a lot of emotion and the focus will be on their union–not a bunch of fussy hoopla.  Katie and Peter are in love–and that is clear.  But it’s almost as if they have two sides to their relationship—one side being that they have a blast together.  This is obvious in the shoot below, but they also have a more private side–while they are not into PDA, they display a tenderness with one another that is so sweet.  I love this in a couple.  The engagement shoot really reflects these two sides of them.  We started at Red Rocks, played a little there, had a beer, then went over to Yeti cycles where Peter makes mountain bikes, and hung out in the warehouse for a bit before we lost all light.  It was a really fun shoot.
