These images feel a little voyeuristic to me, which is always a goal of mine–to remain invisible and capture life as if I weren’t there. Ashley and Joel are sweet, loving, and seem very private to me. I was so honored that they asked me to come document this pregnancy and stage in their lives. Ashley and Joel have three furry, and not so shy little friends who also participated in the shoot. Elmo, Henry and Lola are Ashley and Joel’s dogs who hammed it up for me, and made good distractions for Ashley and Joel, so that I could photograph this sweet time in their lives, as a journalist.
