I love my husband, Paris, hot black coffee, baths, popcorn and junior mints, sunday afternoons when I’m not working, long walks on a cloudy day, rain, fog, snow, Christmas time, the spa, sweatpants, HBO, airports, airport bars, bloody Mary’s, old chairs, Totinos frozen party pizzas, the color blue, Joni Mitchell, Counting Crows, Radiohead, the subway, the perfect fitting jeans, diptique candles, my old 1970 maverick, my Dad’s farm, the smell of my Grandmas house, junk cereal, afternoon naps, laying in the grass, planting tulips, Target, a good book, the time to read a good book, the beach, the smell of baby coppertone sunscreen, down pillows, , arrowhead hunting with my Dad, hotdogs and beer, sleeping in, a long swim, using other people’s toiletries, expensive wine glasses, expensive wine, wine in the box, getting lost when I have all the time in the world, road trips with my friend Marie and Tracy, anything by Baz Luhrmann, slippers, school supplies (i still buy them every year even though i’m not in school), the E nglish country side in the winter, dangly earrings... |

Megan and Jeff at Lone Hawk farms

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Megan and Jeff for over a year now. I first fell in love with them when we met up to take some engagement photos a year ago, May. Megan and Jeff met me at Pints Pub, and we shared a bear and got to know each other—always a good start to a photo shoot!
Megan and Jeff also brought Megan’s son, Tanner to participate in the engagement shoot, which was the cake topper to our first “encounter”. Watching Megan and Jeff—totally in love with each other, and also in love with little Tanner, I fell head over heels… Megan and Jeff are a like a happy Cameron Crowe film… I could watch them day after day, and be inspired by love….
Megan and Jeff tied the knot on June 27th (this should tell you how behind at blogging I am) at Lone Hawk Farms in Boulder. I knew I liked Megan before, but when she picked the venue that I had originally picked out for my own wedding 5 years ago, I knew we were meant to work together! The whole day was simply perfect, from Megan’s knock out dress, to the dramatic sunset…. It was a midsummer’s dream, really.
Tanner was a bit overwhelmed with the whole wedding hoopla…. I think he was actually a little afraid of the way his mother looked in a long white gown. But Megan gave Tanner his space and finally enticed him to come in, by bribing him with grapes…
…and then he walked her down the aisle along with Megan’s father—sooooo sweet!
I was so nervous about the harsh light during the ceremony—-but when I was looking over the images a few days later, I started to really appreciate the dramatic light. Aside from the beautiful emotion, I actually think the light adds to the impact of these images.
Koozies have to be the most underrated “party favor” out there. I’m not even kidding when I say, I’ve been thinking about carrying “julie harris photography” koozies at the studio for awhile now. This is just another reason why I love Megan and Jeff so much!
Sometimes I ask my clients to do silly things for the camera. When they participate, they generally end up laughing– which lends to a truly authentic image. Sometimes they don’t participate at all . And Sometimes half do, and half don’t—I think this is what happened in this image, but I love it!

Your pictures and they way you captured this wedding especially, are an inspiration! I am getting married this Saturday and will be looking at these the day before reminding myself to relax and treat the day as a dream. These pictures are truly beautiful and capture the true airy, dreamy and laid back attitude of the day!
-Love them all! Especially the horizontal one with them walking down the dirt path.. the yellow hue is amazing! Might also steal your Beer Koozie idea… seriously kicks, well, you know what lol! Beautiful images (and couple), and as always, a continued inspiration for my own work
-The lighting and flare in the 3 of them out in the field/dirt road is dee-vine! Love it!
-My favorite wedding of the season, hands down. Just seems totally organic!
-busy girl! I cannot keep up with your blog! These are amazing and powerful images of a lovely day! You know, I think if I could do my wedding over again, and I am not suggesting for a second that I would, but if I did, I would want a netted veil just like the one this bride has. So beautiful! I am pretty sure mine was a confirmation veil, LoL. I wish now that I’d kept it so my daughter could wear it when she is confirmed. sorry, I ramble…
