Is anybody else as obsessed with this new HBO show, Tell me you Love me as I am? It’s strange, I watched the first episode and thought it was a totally self-indulgent, depressing, somewhat disgusting drama, but  somehow, it’s ended up being like a bad car accident that I can’t help but crank my neck to see. Still self indulgent and depressing? Yes. But highly addictive!

The show is about 4 different sets of couples–all of them with major relationship issues, and most of them dealing with sex. Who cares, right? Well, I’m hooked after three episodes and can’t wait until Tuesday when I can pull the new one off On Demand. I think what moves me about this show, is that it really tackles honest issues—scrutinizes them almost. It is a show that isn’t all about the happy side of love, or the sexy part of sex, and there isn’t a hint of violence in it. (Don’t get me wrong, I love The Sopranos). It’s just a completely different and dark drama tackling issues that most people would never want to talk about–let alone watch. I love it! I have to admit, the show is pretty hard to watch emotionally, but I’ve really started to love these characters and sympathize with them.  I’m officially hooked!
Thoughts,  anyone?

Amy and Matt
September 30 | 2007

How spunky and adorable is this couple? I loved working with Amy and Matt—they seriously treated me like I was a good friend and were completely uninhibited in front of the camera. Matt even let me drink some of his special reserve Scotch for the groom! (I’m a scotch drinker)

The wedding was at the Cable center at DU which is a super modern museum with a wall that is floor to ceiling TVs. What was even more entertaining then the TVs was the actual events that Amy and Matt had planned for the reception. The bridesmaids and Amy actually did a dance to “a new day” while Matt sang…. (He was so good that I thought he was lip syncing the whole thing–he wasn’t). They also had a hula performance and great music and dancing What entertainment!

Amy and Matt’s wedding was also the first time that I ran a slide show. I thought it would be fun to download the photos from the ceremony and some of the ones of Amy and Matt from right after the ceremony and have them play on a loop on all the TVs. I was totally nervous about showing raw, unedited photos, but it was a great hit! People loved seeing the photos, and I think I’ll start doing this at every wedding… if I can find a faster way to download the images to my laptop! It seriously took atleast 1hr and 1/2 just to download 6GB.

Anyhow—Congratulations Matt and Amy! Hope Hawaii is treating you well!

I love this image of Amy’s father giving her away—-most of the time you expect tears, but check out the radiant smile on Amy’s face! She is so happy and excited!

…. and then the tears started to flow when Matt said his vows.

.

This image sums up Amy’s exuberance!

The light was absolutely perfect right after the ceremony so Amy, Matt and I headed over to DU and took some fun pictures with the golden light…

Matt asked me to take a “princess bride” shot—I didn’t know what he was talking about, but gave it a whirl! I think this turned out so cool with the warm light and heart shape between them…

Melissa and Jesse
September 22 | 2007

Mel and Jesse were my ideal clients. Being both film makers themselves, they hired me because they wanted me to shoot their wedding from a journalistic point of view, and with edge…

I couldn’t have asked for better conditions—the light was perfect, the couple–super hot, the tent was absolutely amazing (looked exactly like a posh lounge), guests were fun, people were quirky, etc, etc. Not only did I get to photograph in my full, edgy element, but I also got to make some beautiful, romantic images when we brought the couch out to the forest’s edge and photographed at magic hour. I love my job—especially when the day is like this.

Thank you, Jesse and Melissa for giving me full artisic freedom with your wedding! I really hope we can work together in the future… call me if you need a still photographer!

I love these two images below… this is Jesse’s face when he first saw Mel. He continued to cry throughout the entire ceremony. It was so sweet!

I think this image is hot!

This shot of Jesse and his mother is probably my favorite of the day. It will be hanging in my studio for sure!
