MY NEW BLOG
I love my husband, Paris, hot black coffee, baths, popcorn and junior mints, sunday afternoons when I’m not working, long walks on a cloudy day, rain, fog, snow, Christmas time, the spa, sweatpants, HBO, airports, airport bars, bloody Mary’s, old chairs, Totinos frozen party pizzas, the color blue, Joni Mitchell, Counting Crows, Radiohead, the subway, the perfect fitting jeans, diptique candles, my old 1970 maverick, my Dad’s farm, the smell of my Grandmas house, junk cereal, afternoon naps, laying in the grass, planting tulips, Target, a good book, the time to read a good book, the beach, the smell of baby coppertone sunscreen, down pillows, , arrowhead hunting with my Dad, hotdogs and beer, sleeping in, a long swim, using other people’s toiletries, expensive wine glasses, expensive wine, wine in the box, getting lost when I have all the time in the world, road trips with my friend Marie and Tracy, anything by Baz Luhrmann, slippers, school supplies (i still buy them every year even though i’m not in school), the E nglish country side in the winter, dangly earrings... |

Rachel and Jake
October 26, 2007
•Weddings
Rachel and Jake have seriously been the most supportive, biggest “julie harris fans” of my entire season. Rachel sent all her friends out to my blog right after I took her engagement photos in June praising my work, and since then has stalked my blog, said wonderful things about me, been super supportive and even got a bunch of people to vote for me for the channel 7 A list. (I didn’t win, but that’s not the point). The point, is that I was so excited for Rachel and Jake’s wedding all summer, and was eager to pour my heart and soul into her wedding day and imagery. So, naturally when it started to pour down rain the night before her wedding day, I was a little disspointed and nervous that I wouldn’t be able to give her the beautiful images that we planned on capturing on CU campus and down on the football field. However… her wedding day, even though it rained, made for some of the most beautiful, romantic images I’ve taken all season. Sometimes I forget that it’s not about me creating a “scene” for beautiful photographs. It’s about the couple and all the beautiful emotions that will, if they are truly happy be there, rain or shine! Rachel and Jake beamed—absolutely beamed!!! I love all the images from this wedding because they are so genuine and they make me smile. I had 40 picked out to blog, but obviously had to narrow them down to these, which was very difficult!
Thank you Rachel and Jake for being the coolest clients…. Congratulations to you!!!
Rachel is so hot!
One of the perks to the rain, was that we actually ended up doing all the formals and pre-wedding photos at the St. Julien hotel which made for some really fun places to shoot. I love this image of Jake with the guys inside Jill’s bar in the “padded room”.
Rachel and Jake had a traditional Jewish ceremony. This is a shot of the Rabi singing his way in to start the ceremony. It was very moving. (He has quite the lungs on him)!
This image makes me tear up every time I look at it, because I am so moved by the emotion between these four, and how much Rachel’s parents seem to embrace Jake…. The grip of the hug between Rachel’s father and Jake is so powerful.
Everybody who knows my work, knows that I am a complete sucker for emotion, so when Jake’s sister got up to give a toast—a very, very sweet toast at that, I kept my camera pointed at their parents.

Happily ever after…
