Photography Blog | The Life and Times of Julie Harris Photo Blog | Photography Blogs. Welcome! This is where I show my work and write about what stirs me. Mary Ellen Mark says, "Reality is always extraordinary". I live by this. I'm a documentary photographer with a thirst for love, life and truth... a true bohemian at heart. In an industry saturated with trendy processing techniques and emphasis on style instead of substance, I strive to make honest images that are full of emotion and reality. Wow—This wedding was emotional! And the sincere, sweet, not nervous kind of emotion…. Mom cried, Dad cried, Brothers cried, Bride and Groom cried of course, and I’m sure about every other guest that attended shed atleast a tear. I couldn’t hit the trigger fast enough… it was wonderful!
I just adored woking with Emily and Adam because their love is so sincere—everything was organic and easy to capture. I don’t even know how to describe the magic between them, other than to say that there is a very deep spiritual connection between these two…..
There is a sense of intuition that a photographer must possess in order to go in and nail a shoot. Over half of my shoots are with clients that I have never met, and is therefore like going into a situation blindfolded . I have to intuitively make my way through the shoot based on their personalities and the way that they vibe as a couple—and all of this in just an hour of obsevation….
I arrived at Alex and Mark’s home, in the rain after a long drive in rush hour traffic and was exhausted. I had no idea what I was going to do with them, but then the intuition just kicked in and I could have stayed for hours! They were hot! We did a few shots at their home in their backyard, but I could see a field of open space right beyond their home and I had to take them to it and get them dirty, cold and wet. I loved the shots that came out of it. Alex and Mark are a truly beautiful couple with some serious chemistry! It was a pleasure to work with them—and I hope we won’t remain strangers…
This is a very edgy shot, but in my opinion, very sexy… My “intuition” told me to get them dirty. They seemed like the kind of couple that would like a few fashionesque shots.
Alexandra is a star in front of the camera—I had to get a single shot of her on this fence before we climbed over it to the open space. Isn’t she amazing?
I had the honor of photographing these young love birds on the 11th of August at Terrace Gardens, and was just blown away by their love for one another—these two are really perfect for each other—both super smart, witty, cool… and they are high school sweet hearts! They’ve already made it through some tumultuous times!
I had never met Austin before the 11th and was so impressed with this cat! He’s a musician—big time musician actually. He lives out in Hollywood and composes scores for award winning movies. Megan and Austin’s wedding was like going to the symphony because the whole day was set to Austin’s music—Even the ceremony! Austin’s music was used to convey some of the emotions that the two of them went through while away at college, when they first started dating, etc. etc, It was very powerful.
Thanks for letting me be a part of this day, Megan and Austin. I wish you all the love and Happiness!
p.s. I want the soundtrack to your wedding!
