Photography Blog | The Life and Times of Julie Harris Photo Blog | Photography Blogs. Welcome! This is where I show my work and write about what stirs me. Mary Ellen Mark says, "Reality is always extraordinary". I live by this. I'm a documentary photographer with a thirst for love, life and truth... a true bohemian at heart. In an industry saturated with trendy processing techniques and emphasis on style instead of substance, I strive to make honest images that are full of emotion and reality. Whew! This was a hard one… on top of the fact the Kristi and Jeff were starving, and that we almost had to cancel the shoot due to some crazy dust storm that blew into Denver violently, when we finally decided to go ahead with the photo shoot, it was unbearably hot—Hello!!!
Engagement shoots are usually a blast, but sometimes they can be hard. It’s funny, I tell my couples to “pretend that I’m not there,” and to “act really natural”, but the fact is, I am there–right there in their faces, and let’s be honest—how many people frolic through the park naturally? It can be really difficult for some to relax and act silly. And the PDA thing is a whole different matter…..
However, that being said, I pulled some tricks out of my bag on this shoot and felt that we ended up with a really nice mix of both silly, and sincere images. Thanks for humoring me, Kristi and Jeff—I promise your wedding pics will be much easier!
